Designed to make your coffee look and taste as exquisite as a fine wine, the Hario Syphon Sommelier 5 Cup delivers. It’s fascinating to use, boosts the classiness of any kitchen or meal, and brews coffee that’s extraordinarily delicious.
Syphon coffee is considered by many to be the finest filter coffee type in the world. Thanks to the cloth filter and the creation of a vacuum during brewing, the final coffee has a velvety smooth body and vibrant aromatics.
The cloth filter lets through all the coffee’s natural oils, which are responsible for the enhanced flavour and mouthfeel, but keeps out all coffee grounds. However, the Hario Syphon Sommelier also includes a reusable stainless steel filter that offers a fuller, more rounded flavour.
Basic Hario Syphon Sommelier Instructions:
- Fill the bottom chamber with 550ml of hot water and turn on heat source below.
- Insert the filter into the upper chamber and pour in 33g of medium-coarse coffee grounds.
- Attach the upper chamber to the lower bulb and start a timer when the water rises.
- After 30 seconds of water/coffee contact, stir the grounds slightly.
- After 2 minutes total of brewing, remove the syphon from the burner.
- Once the brewed coffee drains, remove the upper chamber and enjoy.
The included alcohol burner is easy to light and burns at just the right temperature for coffee brewing the entire time. When the brewing’s complete, flip the lid over to turn it into a stand for the upper glass chamber.
The syphon is designed to look and feel like a wine decanter in order to make the coffee experience more elegant and sophisticated. Both glass pieces are made from Hario’s own borosilicate handblown glass, the stand is stainless steel, and cushions and band are made with food-grade silicone.

You agree to release Alternative Brewing from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, losses, costs and expenses, including financial and other consequential losses, made, suffered or incurred by you or any other person or entity as a result of your election to choose Authority to Leave for your delivery.
If you do not provide Alternative Brewing Authority to Leave for your delivery, you will have to be at your premises in order for the delivery to occur.
