The Modern Lever Espresso Machine
The Bezzera Strega takes the classic lever design—beloved for its hands-on approach and complete control over the shot time, pressure, and temperature—and upgrades it with some powerful internals.
The proprietary BZ group, for example, uses two heating elements to keep the group heated at all times. The 2L heat exchange boiler allows you to pull shots and steam at the same time without losing pressure, and the accompanying 4L water tank is massive enough to keep you brewing for ages.
Pulling Shots With The Bezzera Strega Lever
There’s a learning curve to with making espresso in a lever machine, but once you get it, the level of charm is unrivaled.
When you raise the lever, hot water flushes into the portafilter, initiating a pre-infusion. You can press down at anytime, offering full control over the pre-infusion length. You can also manipulate the brewing pressure mid-shot—something most automatic machines don’t allow for—which enables hands-on pressure profiling.
The 360° steam and hot water wands make steaming feel natural and smooth. The cup warmer at the top of the machine ensures you never accidentally pull a hot shot into a cold cup.
